Hi, my name is Zingerzaski. I live in Mauritania. Most people think that this is a land where the poor and the helpless live. We are a poor country made of desert and rock, but that does not make us helpless. We have the power of the people to up rise and seize control of what is happening to us. You can change the world with a single action. Just look what Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr. did. They made this world a way better place by committing to something that they believed would help us.
We the people of Mauritania have the power to up rise and change what people think of us. we don't have to be poor. we don't have to be helpless. This country is strong. We are made of the heat from the sun, the strength of rock, and we are as swift as the sand. This is where we stand, here. This is where we rest, here. This is where we converge. This is where we take on the upper hand.

News
Have you ever wandered why we sometimes only worry about the after shock and not the event its self. I have been contemplating why they are just now making an article on the mass immigration of former Mauritanian refugees. They say this is because there are no longer ethnic problems in this place and the people feel it is safe again.
What i am wandering is why we this article isn't a follow up on the ethnic problems. We do have our own problems but we are seen as a hero to some country's and evil to others. When ever there is a problem with dictators or ethnicity we should try and help. Let the people know what to do and how to respond.

Culture
Most Mauritanian people get there culture from the Sunni Islamic religion. Mauritania has both religious and secular festivals. these secular festivals consist of Labor Day, New Years Day,Independence day and Africa day. There are also Religious festivals like Korite, Tabaski, Leilat-al-Meiraj and the Islamic New Year.
The ethnic group of Moors has one of the great founders Mauritania Music. They have been the major contributors to the Mauritania Music. In the old days, the Moorish musicians were called by the lords to perform. The Moorish musicians also went from village to village and played their music for anyone willing to pay.

Four Major Zones
Physical Geography
The climate of Mauritania is mostly dry and hot. The northern portion of this barren country is covered by the Sahara desert. This part of the country has an average temperature of over one hundred degrees and gets almost no precipitation. The whole country gets on average 500 to 600 millimeters of rain fall.
Mauritania has four major geographical areas. There is the Saharan, Sahelian, Senegal river, and coastal zones. Sand covers forty percent of the country.there are two types of dunes, mobile and fixed dunes. Fixed sand dunes are composed of coarse, fawn-colored sand, while mobile dunes consist of fine, dust like, reddish-colored sands that can be carried by the wind. Plateaus generally are covered with heavier blue, gray, and black sands that form a crusty surface over layers of soft, loose sand. These dunes are almost everywhere except in the Senegal river Valley.
The Coastal Zone spans approximately 754-kilometer-long Atlantic coast. Prevailing oceanic trade winds from the Canary Islands modify the influence of the harmattan, producing a humid but temperate climate. Rainfall here is minimal; in Nouadhibou it averages less than three centimeters annually and occurs between July and September. Temperatures are moderate, varying from mean maximums of 28°C and 32°C for Nouadhibou and Nouakchott, respectively, to mean minimums of 16°C and 19°C.

The Sahelian Zone goes south of the Saharan Zone to about thirty kilometers of the Senegal River. Its made up of steppes and savanna grasslands. Herds of cattle, sheep, and goats move across this zone in search of pasturage. The hivernage begins earlier in the Sahelian Zone than in the Saharan Zone, often lasting from June until October. Because farmers and herders depend on annual rains. If it starts one month late in the beginning of the rainy season it can cause large losses.

Welcome to my blog on Mauritania. I am very delighted that you are reading my blog. In this blog i will be discussing the history of a country in Africa named Mauritania. This country is located on the north west coast and is bordered by Mali, the western Sahara, and Senegal. The capital is Nouakchott and is on the coast of the country.
The first traces of settlement in Mauritania started in about 5000 BCE. This was populated by African Americans until the 1st millennium when the Sanhaja imigrated and pushed the africans to the south towards the senegal river. Thousands of years later France started colonizing West Africa. In 1960 after a series of refoms the French African countrys won their independence.
