Welcome to my blog on Mauritania. I am very delighted that you are reading my blog. In this blog i will be discussing the history of a country in Africa named Mauritania.This country is located on the north west coast and is bordered by Mali, the western Sahara, and Senegal. The capital is Nouakchott and is on the coast of the country.

The first traces of settlement in Mauritania started in about 5000 BCE. This was populated by African Americans until the 1st millennium when the Sanhaja imigrated and pushed the africans to the south towards the senegal river. Thousands of years later France started colonizing West Africa. In 1960 after a series of refoms the French African countrys won their independence.
